During the course of my work at my last organization I needed to interact with the British/Australian/Americans on an occasional basis.
Specifically the British I interacted with quite frequently. So on one such occasion I was on a outing to Kerala with some of the British press where they always used to get amused at my head nodding left right and almost everywhere and almost at every question..I dint realize the reason why would they keep on asking the same questions to me again and again and then when they told me explicitly I wasn’t sure whether to be embarrassed or just take it in my stride(It’s a national habit after all :))
The new found (and some lovely) acquaintances also shared that they weren’t sure if I could get their humour (as they say they are sarcastic to the core) which I was happy to identify with as that’s mine and my nation’s (as I think so) style as well; this I would say is a shared phenomenon between the two countries. Good Sarcasm is appreciated everywhere
